School Is Right Around The Corner

12 days and counting! This year not only will the kids be at school, but I'll be working there as well. I will be a parapro early interventionist. I get to go into the kindergarten and first grade classrooms and help students with reading and writing. I am so excited! I can't believe I'm actually going to be paid to do something that I love. I have volunteered for various things in these classrooms since my kids were in school. I never would have thought it would lead to this. This is the job opportunity I wrote about a while ago. I had to take a test, and then go through a background check, before I could officially be offered the job. Now, pending school board approval on Tuesday evening, I will have a job.

While I am so looking forward to this new opportunity, I have to say the other thing I love about the beginning of the school year is the return to a schedule. My family seems to thrive on it. Fall is my favorite season so that helps, too. The heat of summer doesn't bother me. The humidity I could definitely do without. How about you? Is there anything you are looking forward to?

  1. A lot of the ladies at our church do a similar job at the local schools. When/if our kids go to the public schools, I could see myself doing something along those lines as well. :)

  2. Oh, and I thrive on a schedule to! Just can't stand being without structure and organization on a day to day basis. Makes me a more productive person. So glad you are excited about your new position. What a blessing you will be the students. Hugs!

  4. Congrats on the job. To follow up on the comment that you made on my blog -- sometimes I think we feel inclined to write (i.e. feeling as though we could burst) because we just need to get it out. Often times when I am writing things out (because I am an external processor), I feel God teaching me through that exercise. And, you never know -- people could be reading it, but they just can't bring themselves to comment. Looking forward to reading more of you!

  6. Congratulations! Sounds like you'll be having fun, along with getting paid - always a bonus :) I hope to one day volunteer in my kids classrooms - with a 6 yo, 4 yo and 2 yo, it's hard right now, unless my 4 yo's kindergarten teacher lets me bring my youngest.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend ...

(p.s. I found you through Company Girl Coffee)
